DISCOVER BORDEAUX'S WINES AND ITS NICE LANDSCAPES:
from Bordeaux's chateaux to Arcachon

Day 1. BORDEAUX
At your arrival in Bordeaux, you will be driven by a private car to your hotel, situated right in the centre of the city. After being installed in your room, you will have dinner in the hotel or in the centre town.

Day 2. BORDEAUX. Prestige’s of Medoc
This day will be dedicated to the discovery of the great vineyards of Medoc, poor, gravelled and sandy land that gives this strong characteristic to red wines. The land of Medoc, located on the left bank of the Garonne River, is situated between the ocean’s shores and the Landes’s forest, and shelters several of great wines of France, with a worldwide reputation.
After having breakfast, you will go with your driver-courier to meet worldwide famous name “Chateaux”. We can name the renowned Chateau Margaux, remarkable for its ninety-hectare vineyard and its 19th century building. The tour will go on towards Saint-Julien, Paulliac, Saint-Estèphe and Medoc’s “clos”, all famous for giving the wine this ruby colour, this strong characteristic, this bouquet which is getting better in time.
After a guided-tour, you will sample a “Grand Cru Glassé 1855” such as Mouton-Rothschild, Pichon Longueville, Lafite or Palmer. The lunch will take place in a characteristic restaurant of Medoc.
The afternoon will be dedicated to the oenology introduction, during a visit and a tasting in a “Cru Bourgeois”.
At the end of the afternoon, your private car will drop you off to your hotel. The dinner will take place in a gourmet restaurant of Bordeaux.

Day 3. BORDEAUX. Graves and Arcachon Bay
Today, your driver-courier will take you to out of Bordeaux between Graves’s vineyards and the nice landscapes of Arcachon Bay. The tour will start by visiting the Graves, a land that stretches from the south of Bordeaux to Langon, 70 kilometres (about 44 miles) to the south, along the Garonne River. This is where, on this poor land of gravel, sand and clay, that you will meet remarkable red wines for their sap intensity and their delicacy. It is notably in the north of Graves, in the domain of Pessac-Leognan that you will discover through a guided tour and its tasting, the richness of a “Grand Cru Glassé” of Graves, making this wine one of the most prestigious in the world (Haut-Brion, Pape Clément, Smith Haut Laffitte).
The tour will continue towards the city of Arcachon, famous for its seaside resorts but also for its oyster’s parks, its architecture and its sand dune the biggest in Europe: the Dune of Pilat. At your arrival in this nice city, you will be invited to the tasting of oysters served with a glass of white wine; then, you will have lunch in a characteristic restaurant on the waterfront.
The afternoon will be dedicated to the discovery of Arcachon Bay, thanks to a boat that will take you to see the Birds island, as well as its famous “houses on pilotis”, built during Napoleon 3th’s reign ; it was used as a shelter for hunters and oyster-farmers.
Coming back on the dry land, your driver-courier will suggest you to have a pleasant walk in the heart of the “Winter City”; it is a calm historic area that contains many villas inspirited of the Basque, Swiss or British style, associated with pins of the Landes’s forest and the Moresque park.
At the end of the afternoon, if you feel like it, you could attempt to climb the Dune of Pilat; to the top, it is giving a wonderful and exceptional panorama on the city of Arcachon, its bay, the Cape Ferret, the “Banc d’Arguin”, and of course: the Atlantic Ocean.
Your driver-courier will take you back to your hotel, where you will be free to choose where to have dinner.

Day 4. BORDEAUX. Wine and heritage in Saint-Emilion and Pomerol
After having breakfast, your driver-courier will be pleased to take you in the heart of Pomerol and Saint-Emilion’s vineyards, respectively located in the north-west and in the south-east of Libourne. Pomerol’s domain is much less smaller than those of Medoc and Graves and stretches on three villages: Pomerol, Lalande-de-Pomerol and Neac.
Your driver-courier will take you to Saint-Emilion’s domain. The name itself denotes a wine quality known to be one of the best in the world. During the visit of a vineyard, you will sample a Grand Cru Classé of the Belair, Angelus or Figeac “clos”. It is advised to eat a bit of cheese, so that it can release its almond and rose’s flavour. It is in the heart of this village, that belongs to the Unesco patrimony, that you will have lunch in a wine-bar, renowned for the quality of its regional cuisine and its wine list.
The medieval city will reveal you its mystery during its tunnel’s guided-tour, dig into the limestone; it is nowadays sheltering the appellation’s “Grands Crus”. You will also visit its Middle Age’s battlements and its small, narrow and paved streets. Saint-Emilion is also the seventeenth stage of the St. James's pilgrimage.
