THE MONT SAINT ODILE was a very important religious place, without doubt even before the Christian times. It's not only a pilgrimage place but a "must" when visiting the Alsace region because of its history and for its location.
It was during the Middle-Ages that the Mont St Odile became a famous place for pilgrims, most of them were charmed by the beautiful story of this Alsatian Saint. Due to its location, the convent is on the top of a mount of 761 m high of the Vosges mountains and from where beautiful and peaceful landscapes can be admired, the Mont St Odile is visited for religious or tourist reasons.
RIQUEWIHR. Riquewihr has grown rich on wine, from Tokay and Pinot Gris to Gewürztraminer and Riesling. It has happily survived to the many wars and appears now as the prosperous and charming village it was in the 16th century with Renaissance houses, half-timbered, stone clad and oriel windows vie and medieval sign boards.
Places to visit in Riquewihr: The castle, the "Grande Rue", the "place des 3 églises", the Dolder, the Hansi museum and the "maison Preiss-Zimmer", the "rue de la Couronne" and so on.
A tasting of the Alsatian wine will take place in a famous cellar in Riquewihr.
COLMARColmar, emblematic city of Alsace region, is a privileged place offering all the attractions of the province, joined in a mixture of fine and fascinating harmony. Its historical centre has been compleated restored and embellished. Its churches and houses are constructions that show the prosperity that this city had until the 16th century due to the wine trade, but that still last well gracefully in spite of the time.
Places to visit in Colmar: The Unterlinden Museum where can be admired the Issenheim altarpiece, the old part of the city which is the best preserved in Alsace, the St Martin Gothic church, the "Maison des Arcades", the "Maison Pfister", the "Maison des Têtes", the Bartholdi museum, the old customs, the "Petite Venise" with its St Pierre bridge, the tanners quarter, the Krutenau quarter and so on.
