- The entrance fees to museums, monuments, or others are not included.
- Historical and general informations concerning the places visited will be given by the driver, except inside museums; monuments; castles or others.
Day 1. BORDEAUX
BORDEAUX. Arrival. The room at the hotel is available since 3 pm. Capital of the Aquitaine region, it has given its name to the famous wine produced there. Located along the left bank of the Garonne river, it is also an important fluvial harbour, even since the pre-roman time. Accomodation.
Day 2. BORDEAUX/ ST JEAN DE LUZ/ BIARRITZ/ BAYONNE
ST JEAN DE LUZ. It was the marriage town of king Louis the XIV with the Infant Maria-Theresa, on June 9th 1660. It is now an important and colourful fishing port. BIARRITZ. Thanks to the beauty of this place, its modern facilities, its confortable hotels, and its several sport activities, it is a summer resort and a tourist place of first category. BAYONNE. It is the most important city in the basin of the river Adour and the main departing point for the different tours to the Pyrenees. Breakfast and accommodation.
Day 3. BAYONNE/ PAU/ LOURDES
PAU. Birthplace of king Henry the IV. To visit the castle where he was born and to stroll along the boulevard of the Pyrenees. LOURDES. On February 11th, 1858, in the grotto of Massabielle, took place the first of the 18 apparitions of the Virgin to Bernadette Soubirou. Visit of the religious area, formed by the processions esplanade, the subterranean Church Pio X, the Crypt, the Rosary basilica, the Miracle Grotto of Massabielle, the Fountains with Lourdes water, and the Calvary road. Breakfast and accommodation.
Day 4. LOURDES/ TOULOUSE/ DOMME/ SARLAT
TOULOUSE. The pink city, « La Ville Rose », named like this because of the colour of its bricks, Toulouse was since the Middle Ages an important cultural and artistic city. To visit the St Sernin basilica, the Jacobins church and the Capitol square. DOMME. Built on a rocky promontory dominating the river Dordogne, it is one of the most beautiful and spectacular towns in France. SARLAT. Capital of Black Perigord. Its former part has been completely restored in 1964, thanks to that its wonderful Medieval and Renaissance architecture can be better appreciated. Breakfast and accommodation.
Day 5. SARLAT/ ROCAMADOUR/ BORDEAUX
ROCAMADOUR. Important pilgrimage place during the XII and XIII centuries. This village was built in a surprising place in the canyon of the river Alzou and located on 3 levels. To visit the basilicas consecrated to Saint Amadour and to the mysterious Black Virgin. BORDEAUX. Arrival at the hotel at the end of the day. Breakfast and accomodation.
Day 6. BORDEAUX
BORDEAUX. Breakfast. End of the services.
