ITALY and SICILY FANTASIA TOUR

DAY 1 ROME, ASSISI, SIENA, FLORENCE
Breakfast. Departure at 07.15 from the hotel Diana ( ** ) by a deluxe coach, you will arrive to ASSISI. where you can explore this tiny town, surrounded by ancient Middle Ages walls, at your own leisure. We suggest the visit of the Basilica of St. Francis where you will see masterpieces of Giotto and Cimabue. Then, lunch break (not included). Board the bus for SIENA, a medieval town surrounded by ancient walls that is known for the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, the town square, famous for hosting the Palio horse race. Then, you will continue on to FLORENCE, where you will check in your hotel before dinner and a well-earned night of rest.

DAY 2 FLORENCE
After breakfast, you will spend the day venturing around FLORENCE, where with the help of Michelangelo, Italian art reached its pinnacle. Based on Etruscan- Roman origins, the city flourished in the Middle Ages as a free commune and was further refined by the Renaissance. Because of its monuments, churches and buildings, Florence is known as the "cradle of Renaissance". The crowning architectural jewel being the domed cathedral: Santa Maria del Fiore, more commonly known as "The Duomo". On your visit, you will be amassed by its magnificent dome was built by Filippo Brunelleschi. You will then proceed to the nearby Campanile tower (partly designed by Giotto) and the Baptistery with its bronze doors that Michelangelo dubbed the “Gates of Paradise”. In the heart of the city, you will see the Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo della Signoria (also known as Palazzo Vecchio), gothic building, and the Santa Croce Basilica. Spend the afternoon the cobblestone street of Florence on you own or take a short trip to Pisa (optional), one of the four main historical Marine Republics of Italy. There, you will tour the Square of Miracles, which houses the Duomo, the Leaning Tower and the Baptistery. Florence. Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3 FLORENCE, BOLOGNA, PADOVA, VENICE
Breakfast. In the morning departure to BOLOGNA. There, you will wander through-
out the city's 38 kilometres worth of elegant arcades (or porticos), for which Bologna is famous. From piazza Malpighi, you will proceed to Piazza del Nettuno and Piazza Maggiore (the Piazza del Nettuno and major square) in the heart of the city, where you will find Neptune fountains King Renzo’s Palace, the Podestà Palace and the Basilica of San Petronio, one of the biggest in the world. In the afternoon we will continue towards PADOVA, with its original Sant’ Antonio Basilica. Later, you will arrive in VENICE, world-renowned for its classic gondola boat and its elegant and refined art. Check in to your hotel and enjoy your first Venetian dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 4 VENICE
Hit the water after breakfast as you board a private water bus to enjoy an outstan-
ding cruise through the Lagoon of Venice before stopping at MURANO. The ancient art of glass blowing is still carried on the town, thanks to a few "Maestri" left on the Island. Then, on to St Mark's square, exterior visit of the splendid Cathedral, the Dogi Place, a symbol of the glory and authority of Venice as it housed the seat of the Goverment and the Court of Justice. Nearby you will see the legendary bridge of sight. Spend the afternoon roaming along Venice's canals at you leisure and then return to the hotel for dinner and relaxation.

DAY 5 -VENICE, MONTEPULCIANO (TUSCANY) - ROME
Breakfast and departure by motor coach from Piazzale Rome to Tuscany. known for its romantic churches and castles and its famous wines. You will proceed to Val di Chiana with a stop in MONTEPULCIANO, a medieval town rich with history and art, known for its "Nobile" wine, which can be purchased in wine houses in town. Montepulciano is also the host of an annual Jazz and Wine festival on July. Spend the afternoon getting to know Montepulciano at your own pace and tasting the local wines. In the evening, you will arrive in ROME, where the tour will conclude.

DAY 06. ROME
After Breakfast and between 7h45 - 08h00, depart from the hotel to walk this famous city, taking in the sights of its artistic beauties such as St. Peter’s Square, Navona Square, Pantheon (visit inside), Trevi Fountain. Explore the rest of the city at your own leisure until you decide that you can't do any more waking. Return to the hotel to give your feet some rest.

Day 07. ROME
Breakfast at the Hotel. Day at leisure (Possibility to book regular excursions in Rome) and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 08. ROME/ NAPLES/ POMPEII/ SORRENTO
Breakfast at the Hotel. Departure from the hotel at 07:00 am approximately. The coach will take the highway " Of the Sun ", through the regions of Lazio and Campania, where you will see a picturesque view of the Abbey of Montecassino. Upon arrival in NAPLES you will go on a short panoramic city tour, seeing sites such as the Mergellina neighbourhoods, Castel dell'Ovo, Plebiscito Square, the Royal Palace, Maschio Angioino and the port. Have lunch in a restaurant on route to POMPEII and then visit of the excavations of the famous Roman city, destroyed by the eruption of the Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Leaving Pompeii and driving along the Sorrentine coast, arriving in SORRENTO for dinner and overnight in hotel.

DAY 09. SORRENTO/ CAPRI/ SORRENTO
After breakfast, you board the boat for the Island of CAPRI, if weather and sea conditions permitting, you will enter to the famous Blue Grotta in small rowboat. After, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then roam the island at your own pace. Return to SORRENTO. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

DAY 10. SORRENTO/ PALERMO - OVERNIGHT ON BOAT
Breakfast at the hotel and morning at leisure. In the afternoon departure for NAPLES harbour where you will board the Tirrenia/Snav ferry to PALERMO. Let the waves rock you to sleep. Please note that that dinner and breakfast are not included on the ferry-boat.

DAY 11. PALERMO
Arrival in PALERMO check in to your hotel before spending the day at your own leisure. Come back you your hotel for dinner and your first overnight in SICILY.

DAY 12. PALERMO/ MONREALE
After breakfast, departure for MONREALE, ancient royal town. Back in PALERMO. Here you will visit the Cathedral and some of the city's main attractions. Spend the afternoon exploring Palermo at your leisure and then return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 13. PALERMO/ ERICE/ MARSALA/ MAZZARA DEL VALLO/ AGRIGENTO
A full day awaits you after breakfast. First departure for ERICE, a small mountain top medieval village in Western Sicily that has changed little since VI century B.C. Next, visit MARSALA. You will have free time at disposal to visit this seaside resort known for its wines growth. Heading south MAZZARA DEL VALLO, a fishing port overlooking the Strait of Sicily and the closest city to Africa. Then, arrival to AGRIMENTO, your next exciting stop. Here, you will visit the Valley of the Temples (admission tickets included) which includes the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concorde, the Temple of Hercules and Temple of Jupiter, one of the largest of all Doric style buildings. (If the weather doesn’t permit, you will get a chance to visit of the Valley of Temples on the following morning). Check in to your hotel and have a glass of wine with your dinner and overnight.

DAY 14. AGRIGENTO/ NOTO/ SIRACUSA/ TAORMINA (GIARDINI NAXOS)
After breakfast, departure for NOTO, a city that will astonish you with its recently renovated Cathedral of Baroque architecture. Next, arrival to SIRACUSA, where you will visit the Greek Amphitheathre, the Dionisio Ear and the Roman Theatre (admission tickets included). Then, cross one of the three bridges to the ISLAND of ORTIGIA, rich in Baroque and Medieval palaces and churches. In the afternoon, arrival to TAORMINA. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 15. TAORMINA (GIARDINI NAXOS)
Breakfast. Excursion to the MOUNT ETNA, the largest active volcano in Europe and the highest mountain in Italy. If weather cooperates, you will climb to the summit area up to 1800 m. Return to TAORMINA, the beautifull and romantic town located on Mount Tauro. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 16. TAORMINA (GIARDINI NAXOS)
Enjoy one final breakfast before the tour comes to an end.
