BERLIN
The origin of the German capital comes from two villages of the 13th century: Colln and Berlin. Since the fall of the wall, the popularity of Berlin with tourists has increased. When we are talking about Berlin, we hear about the East-centre and the West-centre, a division henceforth only imaginary!
East CentreThe historical centre, with its old buildings, including the church of Nikolaikirche, the Jüdisches museum, the Brandenburgertor, and the neo-classic monument, has become the symbol of Berlin. Museuminsel is also situated in this district. Its many museums, which the Pergamonmuseum gave its name, this historical and cultural centre is a place not to be missed.
West Centre.This part includes the districts of Tiergarten and Charlottenburg, but also some parts of districts which were in the East-Centre. The district of Charlottenburg does not have a lot of historic monument but it has become the heart of the business life and the night-life of the capital. Magnificent sites like the garden of animals must be visited: Tiergarten, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche, or Gemäldegalerie, a famous museum which possess an exceptional collection of European paintings... In brief, there are much things to be discovered in this part of Berlin.
FRANKFURT
Frankfurt is the economic capital of Germany, but does not owe its reputation solely from finance, even if a lot of big banks have their head offices in Frankfurt. The nicknames of « Manhattan » or « Chicago-on-Main » were given to Frankfurt-on-Main thanks to its skyscrapers. Its main assets are certainly its international book fair, which attracts more professionals than anywhere else, and its official newspaper: « The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung », which has a big influence on Europe. You have to see famous sites like the house of Goethe, Goethehaus, the place Römerberg, and the Historisches museum, which presents a work collection related to the history of the city... But the amateur will make reference to Frankfurt as the city of the famous sausage, the frankfurter!
MUNICH
Called « the secret capital of Germany », Munich has a privileged place at the heart of Europe. Thanks to its variety, its numerous buildings, museums and shops. Munich is now a very attractive destination for the tourists. Culture and Arts are very important in the capital of Bavaria, Where the Baroque and Rococo styles dominate the architecture of the city. You have to see some sites such as the Beer Palace, very appreciated by people from Munich, the Hofbräuhaus, the Glyptothek or the Olympia park, a sports complex built for the 1972 Olympic Games. Munich livens up every year during the Oktoberfest, the most popular festivity of the country. Then the tourists join the Inhabitants of Munich to taste the traditional sauerkraut and the Bavarian beer...
